"Hwasa's Contract Crossroads: What Lies Ahead for MAMAMOO's Captivating Star?"
RBW, the agency representing the popular K-pop group MAMAMOO, has addressed recent speculations surrounding the future plans of member Hwasa as her contract with the company nears its expiration.
On May 23, JTBC released a report stating that Hwasa's contract with RBW is set to end in June. The report further claimed that Hwasa is currently considering various options, including the possibility of staying with RBW or potentially moving to another agency.
In response to the report, a representative from RBW provided a brief comment, stating, "There is still some time remaining on Hwasa's current contract. At present, we are engaged in MAMAMOO's world tour in the United States, and discussions regarding the contract renewal with Hwasa are still ongoing."
MAMAMOO, consisting of four talented members, made their debut in June 2014. In 2021, three of the members, namely Solar, Moonbyul, and Hwasa, renewed their contracts with RBW. Solar and Moonbyul extended their contracts in January, while Hwasa followed suit in March. However, Wheein decided not to renew her contract with RBW in June. Nevertheless, she signed an extended agreement to participate in certain group activities, including albums and concerts, alongside MAMAMOO until December 2023.
Currently, MAMAMOO is in the midst of their first world tour, titled "MY CON," with the U.S. leg just commencing. Meanwhile, Hwasa is actively preparing for her upcoming variety show on tvN called "Dancing Queens On The Road," where she will be joined by esteemed artists such as Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, Lee Hyori, and BoA. The show is scheduled to premiere on May 25 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
Fans and followers of MAMAMOO and Hwasa can look forward to further updates regarding the contract renewal and Hwasa's future endeavors.
